What We Do With Donated Items
Consignors have the option of donating their unsold items. For the
Spring 2007 Consignment Event we have made arrangements to have all unsold/unpicked up
items sent directly to the "House of Hope" church in Juarez, Mexico.
We have established a relationship with the Leroy Padgett family, who have been missionaries in Romania, Africa and Mexico,
and now live in Northwest Arkansas. As Leroy gathers enough useful items items to fill his trailer,
he makes a trip to Juarez to help the local church and people there. He normally makes a trip
every two years, but this year's consignor donations will enable him to make a trip of the donated items
by Growing Kids consignors immediately after the sale.
Juarez is a very poor community just across the border into Mexico. Families are large,
paying jobs are rare, and clothing and toys for the kids are normally hard to come by.
The Padgett's have shared stories withour family about how grateful families there are to receive any helpful items,
most of which they could never afford on their own. Many of them live in mud brick one room huts
or clapboard "houses" put together with whatever scrap building materials they find.
"House of Hope" is a small church in Juarez. Pastor Jesus travels with Leroy when he brings in the items as they go throughout the community and the surrounding countryside
distributing items to needy families. The pictures below are actual photos from the House of Hope and the Juarez community, taken during the Padgett's last trip.
In the pictures below Pastor Jesus is seen playing his guitar during their Christmas service.
