Information About Tagging Your Items

Consignors tag and price all of their own items. Instructions on how to tag your items are given below. With each consignor tagging their items the same way, Growing Kids continues to be an organized, easy-to-shop consignment sale. We appreciate your attention to details as you prepare your items!

For additional tagging tips and ideas, visit our Consignor University!

MAKING YOUR TAGS
Using ONLY 3x5 index cards, describe each item in the middle section of the card. Put the size of the garment, if applicable, in the top right-hand corner. Only items with a red circled "R" for "Return" in the top left corner of the tag will be returned to the consignor if unsold. All Unsold items without this mark WILL BE DONATED.

Affix a BARCODE LABEL in the lower right-hand corner of the card . A barcode label is REQUIRED on every card. Login as a consignor to order barcode labels. Your barcodes will print the price, consignor number and barcode, as well as specify whether or not you want the item to be sold at half-price on Saturday. Click HERE to order your barcodes now!

Make sure and read the Important Tagging Details box at the bottom of the page!

NOTE: European or English clothing and shoe sizes should be stated on the tag WITH the U.S. size. Use our European Clothing Size Conversion Chart as a reference.

TAGGING CLOTHING AND SHOES

On garments, attach the tag with a safety pin near the upper right side of the garment. All clothing items should be hung with the hook facing left. Please pin waistband of pants to angled portion of hanger - do not use clothespins or fold them over hanger. See diagram below. Pass safety pin through waist, around hanger, and back through waist to prevent slipping. Pant hangers are acceptable if clips are tight.

*NOTE: Please do not group items as an outfit if they are different sizes. For more information on how to hang a multiple piece outfit together, please visit our Consignor University!

Using zip-ties or curling ribbon, fasten shoes together and attach tag securely to shoes. For additional protection, place them in a Ziploc bag.

IMPORTANT: For added security and protection of your items, place masking tape with your consignor # and price on the bottom of each large item and each shoe ALONG WITH the 3x5 card. This helps identify your item in case the card is lost. DO NOT put duplicate 3x5 index cards on an item. On garments, place packing tape over the safety pin on the tag. Also consider pinning the safety pin through the tag from the inside so that the safety pin latches on the inside of the garment.

TAGGING OTHER ITEMS

Using zip-ties, curling ribbon or packing tape to secure tag to toys, books, videos & small items, and to fasten multiple pieces together. Also place items in Ziploc bags whenever possible for additional protection.

On large items, simply tape the tag to the item for easy viewing and removal. Your tag will be joined with a Large Item Claim Ticket and zip-tied to your item when you come to drop-offs. If the item includes extra parts, please make note of them in the item's description on the tag.

IMPORTANT: Place masking tape with your consignor number & price on the bottom or underneath side of each large item ALONG WITH the 3x5 index card. This helps identify your item in case the card is lost, Please DO NOT put duplicate 3x5 index cards on an item.

IMPORTANT TAGGING DETAILS

  • Minimum item price of $1.00. Only $.50 increments. Items that are priced other than $.50 increments will be sold at the nearest $.50 increment lower than the marked price. (example - $3.75 will be sold for $3.50)
  • Remember to place masking tape with your consignor number and price on the bottom of each large item and on the bottom of each shoe ALONG WITH THE 3x5 card. This helps identify your item in case the card is lost. But please DO NOT put a duplicate 3x5 card on an item.
  • Items with no barcode on the card will be sold at our discretion, but consignors cannot expect credit for those items since the item doesn't have a consignor number. Don't forget your barcode!!!
  • Competitively price your items. PRICE TO SELL! What would you pay? Normally 25-30% of retail is a good general figure to go by when pricing your items. We'd rather give you a bigger check than a lot of unsold items! See our Consignor University for more details on pricing and preparing your items.
